Drumroll please... 👀
🤴 Carnival King ~ Nick Roach
A father of five children who are all growing up right here in Portishead, Nick is a master of the local juggle! Whether he’s acting as a personal taxi service for his 5 x children to our town's many sports clubs, cheering from the sidelines of a rainy match, or working full-time to provide for his family, he does it all with a smile. Even after a long day’s work, he’s the head chef at home and the backbone of his family.
Nick agreed to step in. He didn't want to see a gap in such a beloved tradition, and although it is very alien for him to be in the spotlight, he’s the kind of man who always says 'yes' to support his community.
👸 Carnival Queen ~ Wendy Watkins
Well deserved after the 20 years she put into Portishead Carnival raising many thousands of pounds for local charities and organisations along with her colleague Jemma.
Wendy is well known throughout the town and has lived here all her life. Her family also go back generations in Portishead, always helping & volunteering over the years. Wendy can be found volunteering as Portishead Football club on match days, meeting and treating the away team officials.
👑 Lady in Waiting ~ Kimberley Jones
Known her unwavering dedication to the community over the past 20 years. Through her work at the youth and community centre, she positively impacts over 450 people every week, offering support, guidance, and opportunity. Kim & the Youth Centre support the local food bank, helping deliver weekly food parcels to those in need, and serves as a committed governor at Portishead Primary School. Known as a friend to many and a trusted mentor, Kim’s kindness, leadership, and selfless service truly embody the spirit of the carnival.
