The community spirit & the annual events were one of the many reasons why I fell in love with Portishead. The carnivals absence was dearly missed. I stirred the pot a bit on social media and magically gathered up a fantastic group of like minded people determined to bring the carnival back!

Portishead Carnival has always had a big place in my heart, I love seeing everyone come together with smiles and laughter. Watching the variation of colours/dancers/music pass you by and then enjoying the events that take place in the carnival field after the parade.
The team that has been put together to bring this event back to Portishead are amazing and we are all bouncing off each other with various ideas of what the community might want to see, we are all very much looking forward to 2025, just pray for the sun to shine

I’m excited to bring this event back showing new ‘portishead’ residents how great the carnival can be.
This is an inclusive event and I hope the whole town will join in….

Proud husband to the Chairman and Father to our two young boys. Having been born in Portishead, Carnival was a big part of my life growing up right up until I joined the Army.
When the reality hit, that like many primary school children, our boys have no memory of attending or being part of carnival, Saz set about reserecting it to its full traditional glory (an affordable day out for the whole family & community). I got straight onboard, to support and help in any way I can… before it is too late for our boys and the current primary school generation to experience & enjoy!
Fortunately, having left the Army with many transferable skills (mainly in planning, coordinatiing & delivering very large scale events) it is a pleasure to work on the committee helping to bring the largest community event back for many years to come.

I lived in Portishead for nine years and, although I moved to Clevedon in 2017, I still love Portishead and actively participate in the community by running my own events at Somerset Hall.
I'm a proud mother to a brand new baby girl named Bonnie and the owner of Bryony Makes Events, where I organise local community markets to support small businesses.
Being part of the carnival is important to me because it means being part of the community, something I strive for within my own business. I love seeing the community come together, and I'm passionate about helping small business owners who will be showcasing their businesses on the field. With my experience in organising events, I knew I could contribute effectively to the committee. I’m thrilled to play a role in making this event a success and bringing our community together.
I also hope that one day my daughter, Bonnie, can take part in the parade and gain a close sense of community. This involvement is a way to ensure she grows up appreciating the togetherness and support that events like the Portishead Carnival bring to our town.
